The Governor of Riau (Gubri) Syamsuar paid a visit to the halal industrial area in Sidoarjo (HIPS). As is known, HIPS is the first halal industrial area in Indonesia which was developed by PT Makmur Berkah Amanda (MBA) Tbk. Since its inception, this industrial area has received support from the government, especially Vice President KH Ma’ruf Amin.
During his visit on Wednesday (19/10), Syamsuar was greeted directly by the Managing Director of PT MBA, Adi S Tedja Surya and Komut PT MBA Johan, as well as the board of directors. During the inspection, he also saw first hand export standard products from a number of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which had gained access to the halal industrial area.
Syamsuar also received information regarding how to foster and develop MSMEs so they could produce international standard products. According to him, the HIPS concept developed by PT MBA is worthy of emulation.
“Halal industrial areas like this, which can provide opportunities for MSME players to develop, God willing, we can also make them in Riau,” said Syamsuar
This HIPS already has more than 39 MSME actors who have become partners. In Riau we are also optimistic that there will be many MSME actors who can be partnered with.
Syamsuar also believes that this has made MSME products, such as tapioca flour, crackers and other products, received a positive response from the international community. In fact, MSME products from HIPS have also penetrated global markets from Asia to Europe.
Seeing this, Syamsur is optimistic that Riau can also build a halal industrial area like HIPS. Moreover, HIPS has received support from many parties, such as the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Bank Indonesia (BI) and others. Even at HIPS, MUI donated a place for halal laboratories and halal certification.
